Welcome to

Busy Bees Ngongotahā

Busy Bees Ngongotahā, in our home style villa, provides excellent care and education for children 0-6 years. Nestled in a quiet lakeside street in Ngongotahā, we are easy to find and within a short travelling distance to the local town, making us a natural choice for busy parents and local families in the community.

We aim to promote the development and learning of each child through positive partnership with parents and open communication at all times for family, tangata whenua, whānau, and community.

Our tamariki and whānau feel a sense of belonging at Busy Bees Ngongotahā, and we welcome new families in, to feel right at home too.  We offer nutritious, home-cooked meals, a huge backyard play area for our tamariki, and flexible hours for parents with 20 hours ECE.  Our teachers live locally, which supports our strong sense of community and comfortable and welcoming environment. Our centre also provides nurturing and stimulating environments for young children with its separate nursery and preschool rooms.

At Busy Bees Ngongotahā, we are also passionate about teaching sustainable habits and practices to our children. By encouraging them to reduce, reuse, and recycle, we instill a love for the environment in their young minds. Our centre has worm farms, and we grow our own vegetables in our garden, allowing our toddlers and pre-schoolers to become explorers in their environment. Through imaginative play, they learn the names of animals, insects, and plants, and their purposes on our earth. As they care for their centre environment and community, we foster a sense of responsibility for the world we live in.

Our in-house chef provides a wide variety of nourishing meals for the children at our centre, providing foods that are minimally processed, avoiding recipes that are high in added sugar, instead using fresh, real and wholesome ingredients.

Friday is lunchbox day for all children. On this day, we ask parents to supply a named lunchbox with food for their child. This is a great way to help develop the children's independence and self-help skills, especially for our older children as they get ready for school. Children often get involved in our cooking, which helps them to understand where food comes from, develop healthy eating habits with our garden to table projects, and well as learning scientific and mathematical concepts as they bake delicious afternoon teas!

We proudly operate our own Busy Bees centre van, allowing us to help support both new and existing families who require assistance with transport to and from the centre. We also utilise this awesome resource for excursions out and about in our local community, which are always a fantastic learning opportunity!

We're committed to Te Whāriki, the NZ National ECE Curriculum. It envisions collaboration between educators, families, and the community to empower children as lifelong learners. Te Whāriki provides a framework of principles and strands, guiding curriculum decisions and supporting children's development. Each setting weaves a curriculum whāriki based on these principles and strands in partnership with families.

The implementation of the centre curriculum contributes to an environment where children are happy, trusting, confident and engaged in meaningful play and learning.

The staff treat our children like they are their own. They're so caring and loving, I couldn't have imagined I'd find such a wonderful daycare for my kids. They're also very flexible with our ever-changing needs.

Everyone at the centre are so welcoming and inviting and are extremely understanding when we are needing to extend hours or extra days. Our daughter LOVES going to school as she calls it. The Aunties are all wonderful and incredible humans and Rochelle really does lead by example. We highly recommend them and have known people who have heard great things about them.
